To support our lifeguards and keep the pool safe, Indigo Park Pool is introducing a new protocol for all member swimmers ages 17 and under.
Current Dates being offered for Safety Course* are:
Friday, May 15th at 5:00pm
Sunday, May 17th at 2:00pm or 4:00pm
*Note: The dates above will be the safety course and the swim test will be completed at a later date once the pool is open for swimming.
Who this applies to
Children under 10 must be supervised by a member aged 16 or older who has taken the safety course.
Member swimmers ages 10–17 may swim unaccompanied only after the swimmer and a parent/guardian complete the Indigo Park Pool Safety Course.
Guests are not eligible to swim unaccompanied. A member aged 18 or older must accompany their guest(s).
Safety courses will be offered in the late spring and periodically throughout the summer to give families multiple opportunities to participate.
The course will cover:
Key pool rules and expectations (including respectful conduct and following lifeguard instructions)
Check-in procedures for unaccompanied swimmers
Snack bar and trash/recycling expectations
Deep end and diving board rules
A swim test: swim one length of the pool without stopping or touching the bottom, and tread water for one minute
Badge and emergency contact
After completing the course, swimmers approved for unaccompanied swimming will have a name card created that includes their parent/guardian emergency contact information. The badge will stay at the pool and be moved to pocket folder upon arrival for quick access if needed.
Required check-in process
When arriving at the pool, unaccompanied swimmers must:
Sign in, as all members and guests are required to do (QR Code or Paper)
Move name card into pocket chart (First Name, Last Initial with emergency contact info on back)
Put on Red Silicone Bracelet (Leave it at the pool)
Unaccompanied Swimmer Expectations & Consequences
Unaccompanied swimming is a privilege extended to members ages 10 and over who have completed the Indigo Park Pool Safety Course.
All unaccompanied swimmers are expected to follow pool rules at all times and to comply promptly and respectfully with lifeguard instructions.
Failure to follow pool rules or lifeguard directions may result in:
A verbal reminder or warning
Temporary removal from the water
Contacting a parent/guardian
Dismissal from the pool for the day
Loss of unaccompanied swimming privileges
Repeat or serious violations may be referred to the IPRA Board of Directors for further action, consistent with existing pool policies.
These steps are designed to promote independence responsibly while keeping our swimmers safe and our pool enjoyable for everyone. Thank you for your cooperation and partnership!
IPRA Large Group Safety Registration and Party Policy
Purpose
IPRA schedules lifeguards based on typical attendance patterns. Large groups can create a sudden increase in swimmers and require additional lifeguard coverage. This policy ensures appropriate staffing and safe swimmer supervision for all pool users.
Quick Guide
• Bringing 10 or more non-member guests to the pool? You need a Large Group Safety Registration (Section 1).
• Want clubhouse access, reserved time, or a private/early swim window? You need a Party Package (Section 2).
• A few members showing up at the same time on their own? No registration needed (Section 3).
When it's required
A Large Group Safety Registration is required any time a member plans to bring 10 or more non-member guests to the pool during the same visit. This applies whether guests are swimming or not, and whether they all arrive together or come and go throughout the day. The threshold is based on the total number of guests the member sponsors during the visit, not just the number present at any one moment.
Cost
• $50 Large Group Safety Registration fee (non-refundable)
• $5 per guest (standard guest fee)
What it includes
• Advance approval and staffing coordination so lifeguard coverage matches the expected crowd.
What it does not include
A Large Group Safety Registration does not provide:
• clubhouse access,
• reserved seating or a reserved area of the pool deck,
• early entry before normal operating hours,
• private pool time, or
• decorations or set-up that function like a reserved event.
Members who want any of the above should book a Party Package instead (see Section 2).
Booking requirements
• Registrations are first come, first served and require prior approval.
• Minimum notice: 7 days before the visit.
Host responsibilities
The sponsoring member must be present for the duration of the visit and is responsible for:
• ensuring guests follow all IPRA pool rules and lifeguard instructions,
• supervising children and non-swimmers in the group,
• keeping the area clean and disposing of trash properly, and
• serving as the point of contact for pool staff.
Members are accountable for the conduct of their guests. Costs for property damage may be charged to the responsible member.
Capacity and safety authority
Approval is subject to pool capacity and available lifeguard coverage. IPRA may limit guest admissions, adjust the approved guest count, or require other changes as needed to maintain safe swimmer supervision.
Failure to register
Members who arrive with 10 or more guests without an approved Large Group Safety Registration may be asked to reduce their group size, wait until staffing allows admission, or return another day.
Because this is a new policy, members will receive a written warning for a first offense. For any subsequent occurrence, the sponsoring member will be invoiced (with a payment link) for the $50 Large Group Safety Registration fee plus the $5 per-guest fee for each guest brought to the pool. Unpaid invoices may result in suspension of pool privileges until resolved.
Repeat occurrences may also be referred to the IPRA Board.
Party packages are available for members who would like scheduled party time and amenities (clubhouse access and/or early/private swim options). Party packages include three hours of access to the clubhouse and pool, including lifeguard services for up to 15 swimming guests.
Party Packages
1. $100: Party during normal operating hours (3-hour window)
2. $125: 1 hour before open + 2 hours overlap with open swim (11:00 AM start time)
3. $150: 2 hours before open + 1 hour overlap with open swim (10:00 AM start time)
4. $200: Private 3-hour party (9:00 AM start time)
Additional swimming guests: $5 per person, subject to capacity and lifeguard coverage.
Parties are first come, first served and require prior approval with a minimum of 7 days notice. Learn more: https://www.indigoparkpool.com/rentals
Member meetups
A group of members who independently decide to meet at the pool is not a Large Group Safety Registration or a party, provided they are not collectively sponsoring 10 or more non-member guests and are not functioning as a reserved event.
Enforcement
Failure to follow IPRA pool rules or lifeguard instructions may result in dismissal for the remainder of the day. Repeat issues may be referred to the IPRA Board of Directors.
